Hello, I'm Beth Carroll welcome to New Hampshire Outlook.
Amid rising inflation, tight credit and a housing slump consumers are feeling tapped out.
As the economy slows, gold prices tend to rise. and as prices "surge" so do the numbers of buyers and sellers.
In 2003, gold was selling for 350 dollars-an-ounce.
It's tripled since then.
The last time we saw a similar run up in gold prices was in 1980.
Given the record prices, scraping gold for cash is back in vogue and never has it been more profitable.
